Hello wjones4142,

You can go to the Driver and Downloads page on the Canon Support Website for you model, available here to download the Image Garden Software, which is what your device will use to scan.

Once at the link, choose your operating system from the drop down menu and submit for a list of downloads. Expand the Software tab and click on My Image Garden to download.

Once installed, you can go to the following link for instructions on how to use this software with your Canon Printer

As for a User Guide, you can go here to see all the available manuals, guides, etc for your Printer Model.
