Use the following link to download B&W test images and adjust monitor contrast to get the full range of B&W. Ideally you are processing in a relative dim room and have no light shining directly on your monitor.
This link has a good color test print. Open the file in your preferred photo processing program and print the image without any adjustment to the image. How does it look? Are colors OK? Brighter or darker than you like? If it needs adjusting use the Manual setting in the printer driver to tweak things. When you get it how you like it save the profile in the driver. Then, whenever you print on that paper you can recall the profile. When the printer is producing a print that you like you can tweak monitor brightness to your liking. Because the print is dealing with reflected light and the monitor is back-lit they will never be exact, but you should get to a point where a print that looks good on monitor also looks good on paper.
I hope this is helpful to you!
