Bobbin, Tension Or What?

PE 770 was woking ok.  There were some loose threads on both top and bottom.  But then all of a sudden, top thread is jumbling up under fabric and is not picking up the bobbin thread from what I can see.  I have changed the needle, rethreaded both the top thread and the bottom.  I am so frustrated because I have been trying to find the pproblem for 4 days.  I was in the beginning of starting my Christmas embroidery presents.  Tina
