Setting Tension On The Machine

Upper Tension:
Locate the tension dial: It's a numbered dial located on the top of the machine, just above the needle bar.
Check the recommended setting: Refer to your machine's manual or the fabric type chart printed on the machine itself. Generally, a setting between 3 and 5 is suitable for most fabrics.
Adjust the dial: Turn the dial to the desired setting. Turning it clockwise increases the tension, while turning it counterclockwise decreases it.
Test the tension: Sew a few test stitches on a scrap of fabric similar to the material you'll be using. Check the balance of the threads:
If the upper thread is pulling the bobbin thread up to the top of the fabric, tighten the upper tension by turning the dial clockwise.
If the bobbin thread is looping up on the top of the fabric, loosen the upper tension by turning the dial counterclockwise.
Lower Tension:
Open the bobbin case: Hold the latch and gently pull the bobbin case out of the machine.
Locate the screw: There's a small screw with a slot or a cross-head on the bobbin case.
Adjust the screw: Turning the screw clockwise increases the tension, while turning it counterclockwise decreases it. Make small adjustments, typically no more than 1/8 turn at a time.
Test the tension: Replace the bobbin and case, then thread the machine. Sew a few test stitches and check the balance again.
If the bobbin thread is pulling the upper thread down into the bobbin case, tighten the lower tension by turning the screw clockwise.
If the upper thread is looping on the bottom of the fabric, loosen the lower tension by turning the screw counterclockwise.
Tips:
Always adjust the tension on a scrap fabric before working on your actual project.
Use the recommended fabric type chart as a starting point, but fine-tune the tension based on your specific fabric and desired stitch quality.
If you're unsure about the tension adjustments, consult your machine's manual or seek help from a qualified sewing machine technician.
