Black Marks
People we send faxes to complain of black marks on their copies. Can this be our machine?

If more than one different company/person who you fax has complained about this, then it's almost definitely your machine. It's just not likely that both people receiving your fax have the exact same issue.
It's not a transmission (sending of the data) problem. Most likely it's a scanner problem. Unfortunately from the description, it's not an easy fix that you can do yourself. My suggestion is to take it to a repair center with reasonable rates, and suggest it may be the scanner, specifically the CIS Harness or CIS unit.
