How Do I Update My Ipod Touch 4.2.1 To Newer Software
Hi, I have just bought an Ipod on ebay and advertised as 3rd Generation, I have also discovered that this is a 2nd Generation, the info I have researched follows:-Why can't I update my iPod touch to iOS 5? Only the third-generation or fourth-generation iPod touch can run iOS 5. My guess is that you have a second-generation model for which iOS 4.2.1 is the last version available. You can confirm the model you have here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 Regards. The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318. Buyers beware make sure you get the right model number or you will not be able to download most of the new games apps. as these need 4.3.1. and later software which can not be done ona 2nd Generation.
