What Are All These Different Numbers On My Ipod?

I have an Apple 30GB IPod here for which I need the user manual. Here are the identifying numbers: On the back of unit:  Model: A1136 EMC No: 2065 In the Screen menu it refers to the following: Model PA446L Why am I getting referred to a MA146LL? Why do the downloadable manuals have no model reference in them? What is the actual useful reference number one needs to use to obtain information? Am I the only one who is confused?
