Tap Touchpad And Select. Permanently Get Rid Of It.

How do I disable the automatic, unwanted feature on my Acer 8951 G that instantly selects something if I accidently lift my finger over something.  I am NOT speaking of FN F7.  I still want to move the curser.  I want a CHOICE.   I just want to ALWAYS manually click to select. I have had so many disasterous accidents.  I have finally disabled the awful hover and select - but no one on the web seems to be able to disable what I will call the "tap the touchpad to select."  Acer does NOT PROVIDE A MANUAL.  Acer HELP DOES NOT ADDRESS THIS TOPIC.  Acer's own search says "no match" to "touchpad," "touch sensitive pointing device," "MediaRemote," and multiple other attempts to search their own product help.  I will be so thankful if someone can help me.  I truly hate this IMPOSED feature.  The web is full of others complaining and no one has succeeded in disabling it.  Why hasn't Acer posted a solution - especially considering all of the complaints regarding both this feature and the lack of a knowable solution for disabling it?  Even writing this question has been difficult because unwanted things keep happening - selections, deletions, this whole thing disappearing (and then I have to start over). Please, ACER, get your act together.  Using this laptop ia a miserable experience because of this one imposed, unwanted feature.

I feel your pain as I had the same problem with my Acer laptop. For some reason their touchpads are extra sensitive. Anyways, here is your solution.

1. Click the windows symbol on the bottom left of your screen.

2. Scroll up to control panel and click on it.

3. Once inside you will see several categories. Click on the category that says Hardware and sound.

4. Under the devices and printers category you will see mouse. Click on it.

5. Now it may be different on your computer, but somewhere it will say  touchpad settings. Click on that.

6. Finally you will see a checkbox next to Tap to click. Simply incheck the box, and there you have it!

Keep in mind your computer could be slightly different, especially if it has a different operating system, but generally for all operating systems this is how you disable tap to click.
