Sounds like your BIOS update got corrupted. Read the following post and see if it helps you out

I have performed this on an Acer with the same issue but it did take me several attempts before getting it to work.
Also search google for "Acer BIOS Recovery" and include you exact laptop model and check through the results for any that are specific to your model.
