My Emachine 1352 Won't Connect To Wireless Router

My son's el1352 will not connect to my verizon router. I bought a netgear adapter. I does show my home network but fails to connect. Do I need to buy a wifi net card instead?

Hi, if your wireless adapter can "see" your network, then it should be able to connect, unless it does not support the necessary protocols to communicate with the router. Check:

- Make sure it supports whatever encryption/security protocol your router uses (WEP, WPA, etc.)
- Make sure it supports the Wi-Fi standard your router uses (802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11n -- typically if the adapter supports any of the latter three, you should be fine)
- Make sure the adapter and the router are set for the same channel
- Make sure your router does not have MAC filtering turned on
