The first step in setting up a left-handed pick guard on a right-handed guitar is to remove the current pick guard. This will typically involve using a small screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the pick guard in place. Care should be taken not to damage the guitar or the pick guard during this process. Once the pick guard is removed, it should be set aside for later use.
The next step is to reverse the pick guard. This will involve flipping it over so that the side that was facing the guitar is now facing out. Additionally, it will be necessary to drill new holes for the screws, so that the pick guard can be attached to the guitar in the correct position.
Once the pick guard is reversed and the new holes are drilled, the pick guard can be re-installed on the guitar. This will involve using the screws that were removed earlier to attach the pick guard to the guitar. Care should be taken not to overtighten the screws, as this can damage the guitar.
It's important to note that this process can be challenging and may require some level of DIY skills, and it's always better to consult with a professional guitar technician for more detailed instructions and to have the guitar inspected if the process is not done correctly.
Additionally, it's important to check if the guitar model is suitable to have a left-handed pick guard installed and if it will not damage the guitar in any way.
In summary, setting up a left-handed pick guard on a right-handed guitar involves removing the current pick guard, reversing it, drilling new holes, and re-installing it on the guitar. It's an challenging process that may require some level of DIY skills, and it's always better to consult with a professional guitar technician for more detailed instructions and to have the guitar inspected if the process is not done correctly.
