Can Old Sent Yahoo Email That Are Not Deleted But Are Not Accessible Be Obtained

I would like to obtain old 'sent' emails which have not been deleted but appear to be inaccessible be recovered? Currently the 'sent' mail file goes back to 2005. Can I recover 'sent' email from a later date, perhaps as far back as 2002? These sent emails were not deleted just have disappeared, is there a time limit for yahoo to hold on to these sent emails?
