Am Receiving Failed Delivery Notices For Messages From My Acct. I Did Not Send!

I have received in either my INBOX or SPAM or BULK MAIL folder-mail boxes 44 failed delivery notices from MAILER DAEMON@nm.... (and 3 from [email protected]) about Emails I had allegedly tried to send. I did not send any of the messages although the notice said it allegedly came from my Email account! I don't know any of the recipients of the failed attempts. They came one after another. I either trashed, marked them spam, or left them in spam! It appears someone is trying to send out messages from and through my email account. Does that mean my account I is being compromised, hacked in to, or what? SECOND WEEK this has happened -- 26 failed messages last time 47 and counting this time. I did notify AT&T that this was happening. HAVE TRIED FIVE WAYS TO NOTIFY YAHOO ABOUT POSSIBLE SECURITY ABUSE, COMPROMISED ACCOUNT, SPAM, PHISHING...no replies from anyone at Yahoo! Can someone please help and/or advise!
