Washer Won't Start When I Press The Start Button

I press the start button and I press for 3 seconds, the door locks sometimes. The usual lights come on, the timer goes down 1 minute, and then the whole panel turns off. I have wasted more time playing to get this stupid machine to start. Please help do I need a new panel switch, Or a new machine, it's only 5 months old!
