Trouble Isolating Element Or Terminal Block Receptacle

One of the two electrodes burned off the 8" element of my Whirlpool Model stove. To trouble isolate whether this is just the element gone bad or possibly a defective Terminal Block Receptacle causing the element to go bad, would it be advisable to take the remaining good 8" element & plug it into the terminal block receptacle?
