Cs6209 Hard Reset
Can you de-register or hard reset a CS6209 handset withour having the original base unit? My daughter's phone system quit working, and she gave me a spare handset to work with my system. It is still registered to her base, it seems. The display will only show "connecting" I have tried the steps in the user manuals for the CS6209 and CS6229 base unit that I have, but no changes occur to the handset that she gave me. I noticed that under the battery, there are four contacts beneath a slot. Is there a combination of these contacts to jump to hard reset the handset?

I wrote to VTech Support and they supplied the info needed that worked right away:
With the display showing "CONNECTING", press the following code using the keyboard on the handset to deregister it:
*331734# then press the MENU/SELECT button.
This causes the phone to beep and the display to go blank.
Then place the handset on the main base unit and press the FIND HANDSET button for about 4 seconds (until the red IN USE light on the base is on) and then release the button. The handset shows PLEASE WAIT.... and it takes 10 seconds to complete the registration. The handset shows HANDSET X REGISTERED, with X being the handset number(1-12). There is a beep sound when the registration is successful.
