My Remote Isn't Connecting To Tv

If your VIZIO remote isn't working, try the following steps to fix your remote:

1. Remove any obstacles from the front of the TV.

Most VIZIO TV's have the remote sensor in the bottom left or bottom right corner of the television. Make sure there is nothing in front of or blocking the sensors.

2. Try new batteries.

Insert new batteries into the remote. Make sure the batteries are correctly installed with the positive and negative ends in the right direction.

3. Power Cycle the Remote.

To do this:

Remove the batteries from the remote.
Press every button on the remote at least one (1) time. This also helps to check for stuck buttons.
Re-insert the batteries back into the remote.
Check to see if the remote is now working.

4. Try using a different remote.

If you have another VIZIO TV in your home try using that remote. Most VIZIO remotes work with most VIZIO TV's.

5. If only some buttons aren't working, check to see if they are 'content dependent'. (there are a few example below)

The channel up and channel down keys will only work if connected to an antenna, or coaxial cable straight from the wall. If you have a cable box- these buttons won't work on your VIZIO remote because you should be using your cable box remote.
The fast forward, rewind, pause, and play buttons are intended to be used when watching apps on your TV. It will not pause cable content, or content playing from another device (like a blu ray player, VCR, or apps from an external streaming device). To control other devices you would use the remote that came with them.

6. If your VIZIO remote is still not working, you may need a new remote.
