I Am Having Problems With Getting My Droid 3 Phone To Work Internationally.

my number in the US is I am travelling in France and need to enable calling back to the US. My phone is enabled for global calls and my service plan, I am told, has the global feature enabled on it but there is no service indicated on the phone.
