Food On Plane

On a flight to Hawaii, may I bring a sandwich on board, like from McDonald's, to eat on the plane? If I want to purchase a meal while in flight, how much is like a lunch? Do you need to pay by credit card or ATM? thanks

To be allowed through security, all food must be wrapped or in a container. On most U.S. flights, unpeeled natural foods like fruit are okay, but half-eaten fruits must be wrapped. Be aware that your food will have to go through the X-ray machine. Gels and jellies are subject to the TSA's restrictions on liquids.

Beverages, toiletries and food purchased inside the airport beyond the security checkpoints will be allowed on board the aircraft. So if you purchase you food after you go through security, you can indeed bring it with you onto the plane. (Make sure you have some wipes with you as Mickey Dees can be messy.)

For food available on board, refer to this page at United which will give you an idea. And yes, since this flight will be longer than 2 hours, you will probably be able to order.
