Mail Sent To Me In Germany Was Redirected. How Will The Sender Be Informed ?

Mail did not reach me, seems to have been redireted to the US. Will the sender autoamtically be informed by the USPS. Tracking says: "April 7: available for pick up at Phoenix, Arizona". Must I inform the sender about this? Will he recieve the mail automatically? - Thanks!!

It would be best to contact the sender just in case.
