Are You Able To Send Packages Anonymously?

I have a good friend in the military and his birthday is coming up. I would like to send him a joke gift w/out him knowing who sent it. Is it possible not to give my personal info or return address?

I am almost positive USPS requires a return address on any package, however, I have also shipped a lot of times with USPS and they have never verified that the address I give them is correct. Since they don't verify the return information, just take the package to a post office and include a fictitious name/address (maybe even adding to your joke by using a name your friend would find funny).

The short answer is yes, you can send your friend a package without a return address. There are a few reasons you might not want to do this.

If your package gets destroyed, lost or they find the address is invalid you'll never see it again. Otherwise, go for it.

You can find a list of all the times you must include a return address here:

section 1.5.3 details all mail that requires a return address.
