With a System Restore it does not always restore the connections with software that is on your computer and Windows, that is why you have to reinstall the software.  Reinstalling the software does not remove your tax file.  The default location for you .tax2011 file is in the TurboTax directory off of the My Documents directory (or it could be in the Doucments directory), you can also do a search for the .tax2011 file.  

Before you reinstall your software you can locate your .tax2011 file and copy it to another directory or flash key etc to be save and have a back up of your file.
