- The PTO clutch may not be fully engaging. This could be due to a faulty clutch, worn or damaged clutch components, or a lack of lubrication. To fix this issue, you will need to inspect the PTO clutch and its components, and replace any faulty or worn parts. You may also need to lubricate the clutch to ensure that it can engage fully.
- The spring that keeps the PTO shaft extended may be faulty or weak. Over time, the spring may lose its tension, which could cause the PTO shaft to not extend fully. This could cause the tines to slip and not engage properly with the ground. To fix this issue, you will need to replace the spring with a new one that has the correct tension.
- The washers (part 17) that you mentioned may be missing or damaged. These washers are used to keep the PTO shaft centered in the housing, and if they are missing or damaged, the shaft may not extend properly. To fix this issue, you will need to locate the missing washers or replace them with new ones.
To disassemble the PTO housing, you will need to remove the circlip and chuck (part 11) from one end of the shaft, and the bearing cover (part 18) from the other end. Once these parts are removed, you should be able to slide the shaft out of the housing. Be sure to keep track of all of the parts and how they are assembled, as this will make it easier to reassemble the PTO later.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
