Damaged Phone Replacement Or Substitutiion

I have a phone I bought from Walmart two years ago. The screen no longer lights up, so I can't text or use any functions except make and answer calls. I can't see who's calling, and I can't tell how many minutes I have left.  I have another Motorola phone that is almost the identical model. This is the only size and style of phone I like. Could I replace my damaged phone with this undamaged one that was given to me?
