Replacement Hard Drive

my toshiba satellite L655D-S5145 laptop's hdd must be replaced soon, bought a WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB SATA drive #WDBABC5000ANC-NRSN as a confirmed fit and I can't get it any further than the dark screen with flashing cursor, all recovery discs are in order as well as complete system backup on a 750 GB Canvio external drive....please advise

Since you purchased a new hard disk drive, you will need to install and Operating System on it to make it work properly. You should use the original installer software for Windows which can be purchased here:
