Start Up

I have a Toshiba C55-B5296 and it came preloaded with windows 8 and I upgraded last week to windows 10. Now my laptop wont boot only shows Diagnose repairs and then attempting repairs but that's all. Never boots to windows and I cant get it to boot to safe mode.

Hi. Do you remember making recovery media (USB or DVD)? If not, then you will need to order a copy of your model's recovery pack from Toshiba. Recovery media can be ordered online. Click here to begin the order process. There is no charge for the software itself, for which customers already own licenses. You will only be charge for shipping.

My first suggestion would be to start up in safe mode which should enable you to recover any files that you may have not backed up. However you say you have been unable to do that. Try using the troubleshooting info on this link:

If that proves inconclusive then you can perform a system recovery but this will put the laptop back to day 1.
