Remote Control Connectivity Issue

I have to turn on the power from the TV itself. When i need to use the remote to shift to another screen (e.g HDMI 2) i have no choice but to use the remote. I have to completely power down (not on standby all my internet wifi box which is about 2 ft away) and wait 5 mins then power back up and then i can use the remote.Is this the issue? that the wifi frequency interfering with the power remote?Is there another way? the service provider has the jack from the wall to their box and i have to connect my internet wire from their box (comcast) to the wifiIf there is a tech that i could also call regarding this question, would gladly appreciate talking to a live person who knows this stuff as well

It will be unlikely to be anything to do with your wi-fi as they operate in a different way. The remote is infra-red and the wi-fi is a higher frequency. (Similar to a microwave). Have you tried new batteries. Failing batteries will give odd results as the voltage will change whilst in use and so will the signal sent. Try that and if not successful then maybe you have a faulty remote. Can you not use any function on the TV directly? There are buttons that should allow you to change volume,channel,input etc.
