Faulty Cd Drawer

I have inherited a TEAC model LP-500 from a late friend so I have no history on the player. I tried to open the CD drawer,it failed to open and indicated a error code of 04.It also shows L+R in the window.Does this indicate a CD in the drawer?Any suggestion to correct this problem would be appreciated.
