Assistance For The Elderly

My 80 year old mother would like to travel by herself. However, she has never taken a flight alone and worries that she will be confused and not be able to get from the arrival to parting gate. Is there any kind of assistance that can be provided to help her get off one flight and on to another? If so, is there any charge for this service.
