Tape Stuck In Deck
Requests for more information
Hey Bill - I have the same problem. Following the advice you got from Matti on this forum I managed to get my tape out, but I can't get the playback head to disengage. Did you have the same issue and if so how did you resolve it? thanks, Guy

got the same Problem and found the answer today:
You can't open the deck from the front, you have to open the whole device, but it's easy to do! Just remember to remove the power plug first!!!
After opening four screws, two on each side of the device, you can remove the top. Now push the OPEN button of the A deck to find the metal lever system it should move. If you look very closely you will find a white plastik part that prevents the metal lever from going down far enough to free the lock. Push down the plastic, it is quite loose, and the opening mechanism is free for now.
Once you have opened the deck, try to fix the white plastic part in its lower position (or just remove it completely???), and the deck is free again for permanent open and close function. This part just prevents the deck from being opened while spinning, but you wouldn't do that anyway, eh?
Hope this helps, please let me know.
Matti
