Can't Delete Media Files

My new camcorder is full & I can't delete media files. I have tried using the onboard menu, U have tried uploading the files with delete files checked & I have tried using windows exploerer. None of these methods will erase the media files. Possibly by default the files are protected, but it doesn't tell you & there is no menu option to unprotect

You can only delete the files from the Camcorder with the help of the touch screen of the camera and not from the computer to which it is connected as Sony does not give this option.
