You need To record the date/time or camera settings data, touch (MENU) > [Show others] > [PLAYBACK SET] > (under PLAYBACK category) > [DATA CODE] choose a desired setting > OK.
In addition, touch (MENU) > [Show others] > [OUTPUT SETTINGS] (under GENERAL SET category) > [DISP OUTPUT] > [V-OUT/PANEL] > OK.
Please note that this procedure is for analog output at A/V connector of camcorder for TV view or recording on VHS tape etc.
Check Picture Motion Browser software settings/ properties for on-screen display to record on DVD disc.

Once those settings are correct you need to use a capture device like a dazzle, connect the camera to your computer throug the A/V door under the lense using a dazzle capture device or other similar device. output from the camera into the dazzle and use the dazzle usb to connect to the computer. The Dazzle will imbed your time and date stamps into your video. Most video cameras require a capture device to imbed the date and time into the video.

hope this helps.
