Recognition Of Password

I could log onto Skype.com just by clicking on the symbol before because I had an automatic log in with Mozilla. After talking to by brother-in-law this a.m., Dec 24th, I lost that capability. I tried to recover with a new password (did this 3 times) but was not recognized by Skype on all occasions. Can you tell me what is wrong? Can I delete Skype and start all over?
