I Cannot Connect With A Friend In Spain.

I HAVE JUST STARTED USING SKYPE TO VIDEO CALL A FRIEND IN SPAIN BUT I CANNOT CONNECT, THEY CANNNOT SEE MY USERNAME WHEN I REQUEST THEM AND VISA VERSA. IN THE UK IT IS WORKING FINE. CAN YOU OFFER ME ANY HELP OR ADVISE PLEASE?
