Te Foot Pedal And E7 Code Error

Hi, I was running my machine on straight stitch when it kept going on its own , like the pedal was stuck . I turned the machine off. To stop it and now all I get is a E7 code and nothing from the foot pedal. I've done all the small things I could think of to try , but what does that code mean ? And is my foot pedal shot? I have the singer brilliance 6199 and I've only had it a few months
