Bringing Up Bobbin Thread.

I have watched the online video tutorial for the Singer 3333, and when demonstrating winding the bobbin and placing it in the machine, it makes it seem as though simply dropping the bobbin into the housing and guiding the bobbin thread through the guides correctly, ending with the thread snipper, is all there is to it. No mention whatsoever of "bringing up the bobbin thread". Have also looked at the PDF version of the manual, which DOES mention that the bobbin thread needs to be 'brought up'. Which is it? Have not yet received my machine, and am trying to educate myself as much as possible in advance to avoid making careless mistakes and spoiling the enjoyment of the machine.
