How Do I Know If My Prepaid Sim Is Still Valid

I was in the US for a month in july and bought a mico sim at LAX (very expensive too ~ I paid $139 whic i found out later that I was on the $39 plan). I would like to reuse the number as friends have it here. Can I reactivate it or can I salvage it?
