2. Shut down the PC and power off the TV. Connect one end of the video cable to the DVI, HDMI or VGA video-out port on the PC, and connect the opposite end to the matching input port on the Sharp LCD TV. Note the port name on the TV used to connect to the PC -- i.e. DVI1 or HDMI1.
3. Connect the audio cable to the TV and computer if using a DVI or VGA video cable. Plug the small end of the 3.5mm-to-RCA audio adapter cable into the "Audio Out" or "Speaker" port on the PC computer. Connect the red and white RCA plugs on the opposite end of the audio cable into the matching colored "Audio In" RCA ports on the TV. If using an HDMI cable to connect the PC and TV, you do not need to use an audio adapter cable for sound.
4. Power on the TV and then the PC. Press the "Input" or "Source" button the Sharp remote control a few times until the name of the port used to connect the TV to the PC appears on the TV screen. After selecting the appropriate input source on the remote, the PC display should appear on your TV. However, if connecting the TV to an older PC or laptop, the computer display may not appear on the TV until you log in to Windows.
5. Go to the PC and click "Start | Control Panel | Display | Change Display Settings.
6. Click the monitor icon labeled "2" in the "Change the Appearance of Your Displays" section. If no monitor icon labeled "2" appears in the window, click "Detect" to refresh the display. Two monitor icons -- one with "1" and the other "2" -- should appear in the display window.
7. Click the "Multiple Displays" drop-down menu and select the "Extend These Displays" option. Click "Apply" and select "OK" to save the multi-display configuration settings.
8. Launch a game, media application, Web browser or other program on the PC. Click and hold the top of the application window, drag it to the right and drop it onto the Sharp LCD TV screen. View and use the window on the Sharp TV screen just as you would any other monitor.1. Select the appropriate cable type for connecting the Sharp LCD TV to your PC. Depending on the Sharp model you own, the unit may have only one port type or it may have up to three port types you can use to connect the TV to a PC. Less expensive Sharp TVs may have only a VGA or DVI port for connecting to a computer. High-end Sharp models may have three different connector types: DVI, VGA and HDMI. Locate the video-out port on your PC and determine its type. If you have a higher-end PC, it may have an HDMI port that resembles a large USB port. Otherwise, it probably has a white DVI port or blue VGA connector. If the PC has an HDMI port, use it to connect the PC and Sharp LCD TV as it supports HDTV video and digital audio over a single cable connection. If the PC does not have an HDMI port, you must use either a DVI or a VGA cable. Like HDMI, DVI also supports HD video, but requires that you use a separate cable for audio. VGA is an analog-only connection type, does not support HDTV resolutions and requires a dedicated audio cable.
