The Schwinn Meridian is a three-wheeled adult tricycle that features a primary chain (connecting the pedals to the rear axle) and a secondary chain (connecting the rear axle to the rear wheel). If you need to tighten the secondary chain on your Schwinn Meridian after assembling the bike, follow these steps:
  1. Start by locating the rear wheel and the secondary chain on your Schwinn Meridian.
  2. Look for an adjustable tensioner or an eccentric axle on the rear wheel. The tensioner is typically a small arm or lever connected to the frame near the rear axle.
  3. Loosen the nut or bolt that secures the tensioner or axle in place. This will allow you to adjust the position of the wheel.
  4. Move the wheel slightly forward in the frame to increase tension on the secondary chain or slightly backward to decrease tension.
  5. As you make adjustments, check the tension of the secondary chain by gently pushing up and down on it. The ideal tension should allow the chain to move up and down slightly but should not be too loose or too tight.
  6. Once you have achieved the desired tension, hold the wheel in position and tighten the nut or bolt on the tensioner or axle to secure it.
  7. After tightening the tensioner, rotate the pedals and rear wheel to ensure that the chain moves smoothly without any binding or skipping.
  8. Double-check the tension and make further adjustments if necessary.

It's important to note that the exact method for tightening the secondary chain on a Schwinn Meridian may vary slightly depending on the specific model and design. If you have access to the owner's manual that came with your tricycle, it would be beneficial to consult it for more detailed instructions and any model-specific information.
