Green Light On But No Sound Or Picture

i bought a dp42849 from wal mart about 3 or 4 months ago but 2 days ago went to turn on green light comes on and blinks but no piture or sound and i seem to have lost my reciept ,what do i do HELP

I just bought 42" DP42840, green light comes on then back off..no sound, picture or display..why? Do I need cable or anything else to just turn the TV on?
