Stop And Start? Has Yours Done That?

Infrequently I could hear a fan noise (like a very minor car 'tappit' or valve noise. 2 days ago, in the early am (6-7, my wife said come and listen. I did. It was the same tempo, but loud! LOUD bap-bap-vap etc. I opened the door, the freezer, looked at it, like any good ol' healer would have done. The noise stopped. GREAT? NOPE! An hour or so later, my wife tells me she thinks its stopped cooling. I checked it out, and seemed like that to me also. Its now Saturday afternoon, and I get on the phone to Samsung to make sure re the extended warranty. Thats another story. A little later I told my wife that I had indeed, 'fixed' the reefer. And dag-nabbit, it had stopped with the noise when I had looked at it hours earlier, and the thing sounded like it was running, but stuff in the freezer still looked like it was slowly thawing out. So, we grab a neighbor (lucky fool) and dump about $200 of (almost) fresh food on her. You KNOW whats coming, huh? NOPE! My wife, with singlemindedness of purpose, goes to Costco and buys a tiny $125 or so reefer. By the time its starting to get dark, I had used the Samsung for a drink of water, which seemed very cool to me. Upon further inspection, I told her I think the darn thing is healed. By 10 pm, we had frozen stuff in the Samsung freezer, and since, its running just fine.Has ANYONE ever had a radical knocking-fan type of noise, and then have it stop the whole refrigerator from working, only to restart and commence working as advertised 8 or 10 hours later (I think it started working right away when I open and closed to door, stopping the fan, and that it just takes that long to cool back down) . Any similar experiences? From all the reviews and ratings I've seen, the Samsung RF4267 HAWP has excellent reviews. ANYONE? Thanks for any help.
