Volume Control
it appears as if the sensor in my tv has gone out. not sure. i am unable to control the volume or change the channel--thru the remote and the tv itself. i also have a big message in the middle of the tv that says "not available". it is inside a big blue box. any suggestions? is the tv done for?

The "not available" message indicates your TV is trying to connect to another samsung device to control the volume and cannot. If you can get past the volume control issue, you can find a setting under the audio menu where it is set up to route audio through another device. You could try disabling that if you did not mean for it to be set that way.
As to the volume problem, I have the same issue. I've been told that the physical touch controls embedded in the bezel go out sometimes. If I can find a service manual with a schematic in it, I will try to find out if the buttons can be disabled. I believe that would fix the issue.
The alternative is to replace the entire glass bezel that surrounds the TV. I've been told that between parts and labor that comes out to around $350.
