Creating Google Account On My Samsung Galaxy Iii

I follow directions to set up a existing account but when I hit existing it takes me to wi-fi direct and starts scanning and i cant get beyond this

To create, or log into a account you need to be connected to Internet. And it looks like you are not and phone is searching for a WIFI connection.

Turn on your mobile data, or connect to a WIFI first and try again.
