Hi, to print labels:
- Make sure you are using labels that are ONLY designed for use with laser (high heat) copiers.
- Load the labels face down on the bypass tray.
- Set the bypass tray for label paper (User Tools/Counter > System Settings > Tray Paper Settings > Bypass Paper Type).
- Open the program you want to print from, and bring up the print dialogue box.
- Set the paper type in the print driver for Labels or Label Paper in the preferences or properties, and set the input tray or paper source to Bypass Tray.
- Print one label to make sure it comes out the way you want, then print the rest.
To print envelopes, it's pretty much the same process -- load them face down in the bypass tray and select the paper type and input tray (except select Envelope for the paper type).
With envelopes, there is always the chance that they will crease up, jam, or smear. But there are several things you can do to reduce this likelihood. The type of envelope you use is a big factor. For example, envelopes with rounded flaps tend to run through better than envelopes with pointed flaps. You can find details specific to your printer in your user manual.
Make sure that when you are printing onto envelopes, you set the printer’s paper type for Envelope or, if it doesn't have that setting, for Thick. This will cause the envelope to pass through at a slower, more controlled speed, as well as cause the fuser to heat up higher. You'll also need to set your print driver to the same setting; otherwise you'll get a mismatch error.
