Why Can't I Disable The Graduwake Feature?

I recently purchased this clock radio, in part, because of its very clever and convenient features. I was quite disappointed to learn though, that I cannot over-ride the GRADUWAKE feature. I'm the type of sleeper who needs to be jolted awake and this feature is practically useless to me. My question is, why would this options not available? It seems to me, at least, that this would be a rather obvious option to include and not a particularly difficult engineering challenge. Had I known this previously, I wouldn't have bought this clock radio.

Grad-U-Wake feature cannot be disabled on this or on virtually any other RCA Clock Radio.
