Lost Power To My Fuel Pump An Cant Find The Fuel Pump Resistor?

I checked all fuses an relays. i was told to check my fuel pump resistor and everywhere i was told to look there is not one there an havent found one. I was leaving a friends  an it started sounding weak and then died like it was out of gas. when i got gas it kicked in an the sound started to dim like it was getting fuel back in the lines. the fuel pump stoped an hasnt kicked back on yet an ive run a power tester to the fuel pump an no power. so can someone plz help me
