My Speaker Wires May Have Touched And My Display Flashed 'poweroff' And Shut Off
my receiver will not stay on now...its 20 years old but its sentimental to me...how can i fix this is it a major issue

I have 3 options for you!! Make sure the wires are not still touching or crossed. IF they are ok check to see if the fuse blew on the inside of device. If the fuse is good unplug device for 2-3 minutes and then replug, this should reset device. Mostly when the wires touched the devices has a power surge protector setting to keep it from fring from mishaps like this and only needs to be reset.
