Neither Cassette Deck Will Play A Tape. When Play Is Pressed, The Device Clicks.
Neither cassette deck will play a tape. When play is pressed, the device clicks like it is going to start playing and the digital play image comes up, but then it clicks again and returns to standby mode. Its reaction is similar to when you push play on a device (without auto-reverse) when the tape is at its end, and the device clicks back off. Both decks react in an identical fashion.

It may be that you have a broken drive belt. This will entail dismantling to investigate. If you are not competent or feel able to do this you will need the help of an engineer. Firstly I would try a tape cleaner in the drives if that has not been done in case the pinch rollers have accumulated residue from tapes built up over time. Tape cleaners should be used regularly to avoid problems. If you can see the rollers, they will be to the right in the drive, a black rubber wheel. They should look black all round. If they are brown then that is the problem.
