Sound, But No Picture

When your DVD player send sound but no pictures to your TV, firstly you should check to see if the cable, which carries video signal from your DVD player to your TV, is correctly connected. The composite video cables have yellow wire for video, red wire for right audio, black or white wire for left audio; the component video cables consist of three wires (red, blue and green), and all of them are used to carry video. Also, the component video cables may have two additional wires (red and white) for RCA audio; The HDMI cable and S-Video cable carry both video and sound through one wire. Whatever cables you use, please make sure the cable is plugged into the correct Input and Output. Here i attach two pictures of Input/Output ports for you to verify your connection is correct.

Check the cable which carries video signal to your tv from DVD player,unplug and then plug it again. The video carrying cables are yellow,the red wire carries right audio, black or white wire is for left audio; the component video cables consist of red, blue and green,these three are used to carry video. Also, the component video cables could have two more wires (red and white) for RCA audio; If you have HDMI or S-Video cable these cables carry audio video both so try to replug after cleaning the cable and the port where you plug in the cable with soft cloth. If you dvd is connected by other cables than hdmi or S-Video please make sure to verify they are properly connected to the output and input ports according to the color of the cable. Again verify according to the pictures i have attached. Check the joints very carefully if they are loose plug thme tightly.

Now, focus on your DVD player and TV, insert and play a DVD to see if there is a picture appearing on your TV's screen. Note: make sure to have your TV recognize the video input you use. To do this, check the back of your TV to see which input port you connect the cable to (They are usually labeled by input number), then press the "TV/Video" or "Source" button on the remote control to open the Input Source menu and select the corresponding Input source.

If the problem persist, the cable may be damaged from inside borrow a cable from friend or purchase new cable and connect it to tv and DVD as i directed and closely watch the pictures i am attaching.

Recent DVD players generally have the feature called progressive scan. Your TV might be incompatible for progressive signal.if you accidently or ignorantly setup your DVD player in the progressive mode, then you won't be able to see a picture on your TV. Change your dvd player from progressive to interlace.
