Philips Mc70/22 - No Power

The eco power light of our Philips MC70/22 is on, but the system does not switch on anymore. We removed and reconnected the AC power plug; replaced the batteries of the remote and tried to hold power buttons down on the system and remote. We plugged it into different wall sockets and tried another similar power cord. (It was purchased and played in the Netherlands at 220V. It is now in Canada and has first played with a transformer at first and later with just a plug adapter at 120V)
